The company behind the classic petrol bike, Royal Enfield, is now set for a new journey with the launch of its electric vehicle brand, Flying Flea. Launched at Milan Motorcycle Show, Flying Flea represents a bold step forward by Royal Enfield in its legacy, where timeless designs combine with the innovation of electric power. According to Siddhartha Lal, managing director of Eicher Motors, this marked the start of an era for the brand, knitting together Royal Enfield's petrol-powered past and electric future.

Flying Flea's First Electric Models: C6 and S6

The two electric motorcycles, Flying Flea, will debut in pairs. As for the flagship model, the C6 is scheduled to roll out during the spring of 2026. The C6 has a classical look inspired by the heritage of Royal Enfield, designed with a flowing forged aluminium frame that helps in keeping the bike light but potent. A magnesium battery case not only helps with cooling but is designed to achieve optimum weight distribution for that sleek and efficient look. The S6 model is patterned like the scrambler type of bike.

While it will first land in international markets like Europe, the US, and Latin America, the Indian market is expected to witness its arrival later, thus reaping the growing interest in electric motorcycles worldwide. According to Lal, Royal Enfield is focused on creating a "lightweight, premium, and city-plus range" motorcycle that puts across an electric model with a style-oriented and fun-to-ride character without the traditional range anxiety seen in the market today.

Royal Enfield Vision for Electric Mobility

The company is fully committed to the electric transition with investments running into Rs 1,500 crore in research, development, and production of Flying Flea. More than 200 engineers are being engaged by the company in India and the UK to work on new models, besides setting up a new electric vehicle manufacturing facility at Cheyyar.

Beyond external growth, Royal Enfield has also purchased a 10 percent equity stake in Spanish electric motorcycle maker Stark Future, with which the company will co-develop leading-edge electric motorcycle technology. The electric space is one area where Royal Enfield appears to be betting big by planning to create more premium and larger range electric bikes appealing to riders across the globe.

Royal Enfield is not only introducing a new vehicle with Flying Flea; it is shaping the future of motorcycling for the next generation with Heritage-innovated flying. Flying Flea promises a thrilling electric experience that follows the unique appeal of Royal Enfield.
