The next-generation model has been under testing for a few rounds, but this latest round had a very exciting feature: The cruise control. A new Design, a new Style

The next generation of the KTM 390 Adventure R is actually a brand-new model which, along with its bigger siblings from KTM, has stepped up to their aesthetic appeal. The style quotient has increased manifold and is bound to appear sleek and modern while looking towards both the 'class' as well as the 'performance' aspects. It comes with new switchgear too as against the switchgear available with the 390 Duke; hence it is very much an adventure-specific motorcycle.

For the adventurous

KTM has designed the 390 Adventure R with a vast amount of practical elements, and this bike is certainly a reliable adventure machine. It runs on wire-spoke rims fitted with tubed dual-purpose tires, which makes it very capable on a wide range of terrains. Riders will also enjoy the long travel fork, which allows the bike to handle rough roads much more capably.

Cruise control: A game-changer

Traditionally, the 390 Adventure R features more on the larger sport-touring motorcycle. In the adventure category, it's not usually available. There are dedicated switches at the left-hand control, too, using plus and minus buttons to adjust to riders' desired speed while cruising. This is one highly desired feature among adventure riders.

Competitive landscape

The KTM 390 Adventure R will compete with the TVS Apache RTR 310 and the RR 310, the only two bikes in the sub-500cc class that offer cruise control. The KTM 390 Adventure series is currently priced between Rs 2.84 lakh and Rs 3.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Price and variant details are likely to be released about these new variants. The new-gen 390 Adventure R, 390 Enduro R, and 390 SMC R will make its first public appearance at EICMA on November 5.
