New KTM 390 Duke Hits the Streets at Rs 3.11 Lakh

   Sep 11,2023

KTM has introduced the third-generation 390 Duke in the Indian market, with an ex-showroom price of Rs 3,10,520 in Delhi. This marks an increase of approximately Rs 13,000 compared to its predecessor, which is still listed at Rs 2,97,475 on the official KTM India website.

KTM has adopted an unconventional marketing strategy for the upcoming next-generation Dukes, following a "no clickbait, no nonsense" approach. Rather than resorting to teasers or promotional videos to create anticipation, the company has chosen to straightforwardly provide information. This approach was evident during the global unveiling on August 22 and continues with the recent price announcement.

Gen 3 KTM 390 Duke Engine

With a displacement of 399cc and outputs of 45hp and 39Nm (1.5hp and 2Nm more than before), the next-generation 390 Duke has a lot of new features. This engine is placed in a brand-new trellis frame with an aluminium sub-frame, all-new suspension, including an updated upside-down fork and an offset monoshock that connect to a brand-new swingarm.

Gen 3 KTM 390 Duke Features

Although not everyone will like these new tank extensions and the redesigned headlight area, the majority will undoubtedly like the extra amenities provided here. Three riding options are now available: Rain, Street, and Track, each of which offers a more precise power delivery than the previous. Launch control is also included with the latter, and traction control is now standard. Similar to the previous model, the new 390 Duke includes a bi-directional quick-shifter and cornering ABS.

Gen 3 KTM 390 Duke Pricing

The Rs 13,000 price increase for this updated Duke actually appears fairly reasonable when all of this is considered, and Rs 3.11 lakh feels like a decent sum to pay. However, it is somewhat more expensive than the recently released TVS Apache RTR 310 (2.43 to 2.64 lakh), which although it can't quite match the KTM's performance levels, does provide some special features.

Gen 3 KTM 250 Duke launched with a price tag of Rs 2.39 Lakh

In addition to the revised 250 Duke, KTM has also released the new 390. It receives new trellis frame, aluminium sub-frame, suspension, wheels, and brakes, just like its bigger sibling. It has also received the revised style and resembles the 390 greatly. However, the 249cc engine that has powered it from its start continues to be used. This upgraded bike is just Rs 779 more expensive than the previous model at Rs 2,39,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The two new bikes are currently available for reservation on the KTM India website for a fee of Rs. 4,500. According to the manufacturer, the bikes would be in showrooms by mid-September.
