The wait has been building for all those who have been excited about the news from Royal Enfield. A teaser shot of the Interceptor Bear 650 Scrambler is finally revealed. This new model is quite similar to the popular Interceptor 650 but will come with some interesting features to make it more off-road friendly. Let us take a closer look at these updates and know what this model has to offer.

Off-Road upgrades: New tyres and suspension

The Bear 650 is designed more for off-road, whereas the standard Interceptor was an on-road bike. Block pattern tyres provide good grip on rough areas. The 21 inch front wheel, larger than the 17 inch rear, gives it more off-road friendliness. The wheels are the same size with most bikes being 18 inches.

In addition to its off-road features, the Interceptor Bear 650 has upside-down (USD) front forks, improving on the telescopic fork. This means the bike will have more ground clearance, a seat height likely to surpass the Interceptor's 804mm mark. Toward the rear, twin shocks keep the bearing uneven paths perfectly in check.

2-into-1 exhaust

Another glaring feature is the 2-into-1 exhaust system, which looks to be very stylish yet saves weight. The Interceptor Bear does not boast of high exhaust, like most scramblers, but it keeps the pipe low and running neatly under the engine.

Updated design & single-pod instrument cluster

While the fuel tank remains the same, side panels on the Interceptor Bear now come with an oval design that goes pretty close to giving it a scrambler feel. The rear section is simpler, featuring a round tail lamp and a cleaner look overall, although the large gap between the rear tyre and mudguard looks a little out of place.

The instrumentation of the Interceptor Bear has been drastically redesigned with a twin-pod cluster replaced by the much leaner unit in its single pod form. It may carry an instrument pack with a bigger digital display or even a fully digital screen for that sleek modern look.

Engine & price expectations

The engine's the same too - making around the same 47hp and 52Nm as the standard 650cc models. Homologation is done so a launch by Royal Enfield at EICMA in Milan on November 5 would seem quite likely. The price would be slightly above that of the Interceptor, now between Rs 3.03 lakh and Rs 3.31 lakh.

Interceptor Bear 650 is said to be a fun, lightweight scrambler that perfects the looks and seems suitable for those enthusiasts who enjoy the occasional off-road adventures. And surely, as soon as it is launched officially, more updates will follow.
