Toyota is revolutionizing the electric vehicle world as it prepares to unveil its production-ready Urban Cruiser EV at the Brussels Motor Show in January 2025. The car was designed as the sibling to the Maruti e Vitara. The compact SUV epitomizes the spirit of the company's innovation and sustainability. The new Urban Cruiser EV combines all these, packed with features to be future-ready. Here's everything you need to know about this exciting new electric SUV.
Sleek Design and Compact Dimensions
The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV carries forward the futuristic essence of its concept version but with practical tweaks. The slim grille and headlights remain, although slightly larger than the concept's. Black cladding all around the sides gives an SUV look, and at the rear, the C-pillar has been used as a housing for the rear door handles, which gives a very sleek look. It is dominated by long-tail lamps and a sporty roof spoiler that makes the rear look appealing. The dual-tone color schemes with contrasting black roofs and stylish 18- or 19-inch wheels will also be enjoyed by the buyer.
The SUV is not much smaller than the concept in dimensions, measuring at 4,285mm long, 1,800mm wide, and 1,640mm tall. The wheelbase is very spacious at 2,700mm, and at 5.2 meters for a turning radius, it leaves no room for poor maneuvering.
Power-Packed Performance and Advanced Features
The Urban Cruiser EV will arrive with 49kWh and 61kWh lithium-iron phosphate batteries. The 49kWh version features a front axle motor that makes 144hp, while the 61kWh battery powers an axle motor making 174hp. For that 61kWh battery comes another 65hp rear motor to make an all-wheel-drive variant, with a cumulative output of 184hp, as well as 300Nm of torque. Other variants also come with Hill Descent Control and Trail Mode for off-road exploits.

Inside, the Urban Cruiser EV is similarly similar to the Suzuki e Vitara cabin. Standard features here are a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Premium models add the roof opens like a sunroof, the sound system as a JBL setup, powered adjustments for the driver's seat, and even a 40:20:40 split-folding feature for rear seats. Airbags count six. And for ADAS - it packs in a 360-degree camera as well as adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist.
