Bookings for the Verna rival to start on April 22

Toyota is set to launch Hyundai Verna rival, the Yaris, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo for the first time, on May 18, 2018. Toyota announced that the bookings will officially commence on April 22. 

The car will be offered with a single petrol engine - a four cylinder, naturally aspirated motor producing 108 hp. The company has announced that the car would not be launched in diesel powertrain though a hybrid version is on the cards which may be launched at a later date. The petrol engine would be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission of a seven-step CVT automatic gearbox.

In order to compete with the rivals, expect Toyota to offer a number of segment first features on their top spec trim such as powered drver's seat, front parking sensors, gesture controled touchscreen infotainment system, a tyre presure-monitoring system, 60:40 split rear seat with adjustable three-neck restraints, roof mounted rear air-con with ambient lighting. In terms of safety kit, the top of the line variant is expect to sport all-wheel brakes, seven airbags, hill-Start Assist, ABS, EBD and ESP.

The Yaris would be produced at their Karnataka plant. The car is expected to be priced between Rs 8.4 - 16.5 lakh(ex-showroom).
