Well, Mini Cooper lovers- here is the big news for you! Buckle up as the iconic Mini Coopers S is back with a fresh look and more power under the hood. India has officially started accepting bookings for the new Cooper S with its anticipated launch in the coming weeks.

Classic Mini with a Modern Twist

While the overall design stays true to Mini's heritage, the new Cooper S is but a shade edgier in its outlook. The classic round headlamps are retained but with a newer LED design. The front grille takes a straighter shape when compared to its predecessor. New diamond-cut alloy wheels and cool tail lights with unique arrowhead LED elements lend it a touch of modernity. The tail lamps are connected via a black trim that proudly carries the Mini name.

A Minimalist Oasis with Tech Upgrades

The cabin has retained the classic Mini simplicity, but with some interesting upgrades with respect to technology. Larger 9.45-inch circular touchscreens infotainment centers take the front seats. The steering wheel gets updated in the form of the new Mini emblem in place, and the dashboard has a major change- the dedicated instrument cluster is no more!

Shifting Gears and Tech Fusion

The gear selector is now in a panel below the touchscreen, rather than on the center console. There's also the handbrake button, turn-key starter, driving mode selector, and the dial to control the audio. It is a wonderful melding or confluence of both functionality and modernity of design.

More Muscle Under the Hood

It gets the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as before, but one that has got an impressive shot in the arm. The output is now 204 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, for gains of 26 horsepower and 20 Nm. Power goes to the front wheels via a standard 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Mini says the Cooper S is capable of completing the dash from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.6 seconds!

Price and Competition

Even though the new Mini Cooper S exact pricing has not been revealed, the new model will carry a slight premium when compared to the outgoing model that is retailed at Rs 42.70 lakh ex-showroom The Cooper S gets a petrol powertrain initially. The all electric next-gen Cooper EV will be in showrooms later this year.

Though the new Mini Cooper S will not have any direct rival, indirectly it is definitely going to shake the stake of entry-level luxury cars and SUVs in the market. That will include the likes of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine, Audi Q3, and BMW 2 Series.
