News for lovers of Jeep: Jeep has finally launched the off-road-focused version of thesmallest SUV, the Avenger 4xe. The rugged addition will sit atop the Avenger lineup with its powerful hybrid powertrain and a design optimized for rugged terrains.

Hybrid Muscle for Off-Road Prowess

This hybrid powertrain is supplied by a unique combination of a 1.36-liter, turbo-charged petrol engine and two electric motors—one on each axle. The ingenious setup is paired to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This 48V hybrid system is designed to supply extraordinary traction and torque for the Avenger 4xe to be a true off-road beast.

High Performance and Capability

Some impressive performance figures come with the all-wheel-drive system fitted on the 4xe. A boost from 0 to 100 kph takes it just 9.5 seconds, and a top speed of 194 kph is reached. It's in its off-road capability, however, that the 4xe really shines. The intelligent all-wheel-drive system doles out power automatically for top performance. At low
speeds below 30 kph, all four wheels are powered to maximize traction. As speeds rise, power is channeled to the rear axle when required, and at higher speeds, it is a two-wheel drive for better fuel efficiency.

The 4xe of Jeep has a 22.7:1 reducer on the rear axle, hence bringing a whopping 1,900 Nm of wheel torque. This would enable the Avenger 4xe to conquer the most difficult of terrains, including gravel slopes with 40 percent inclines and even slopes with minimal front-wheel grip.

Enhanced Design for Off-Road Functionality

The Avenger 4xe is not just about power; its design has been tailored to off-road adventures. Compared to the standard Avenger, the 4xe sits 10mm higher, allowing it to wade through water up to 400mm deep. Additionally, the multi-link rear suspension offers superior articulation for better handling on uneven surfaces.

Visually, the 4xe stands out from its siblings with a few key tweaks. The fog lights are set higher for better visibility; roof rails and a rear tow hook amplify its purpose. The bumpers come in a unique scratch-resistant material, with more cladding upfront for better clearance to the wheels.

All About Durability and Practicality From Inside

The interior design of the 4xe has been made to be tough and practical. All the seats are made from an all-washable material—the perfect thing to blast with a hose after an adventure in off-roading. Jeep has also used more hard-wearing materials everywhere in the cabin to ensure that the Avenger can cope with the demands of adventure.

Availability and Future Prospects

The Avenger 4xe is slated to be launched in the UK later this year, though prices have not been announced yet. Though there is no word on the 4xe coming to India, Jeep had previously considered the standard Avenger as a possible sub-Compass offering. Compact SUVs are quite a rage in India, so if there is enough demand, the Avenger 4xe can be an attractive alternative for adventure-seekers in the country at a later stage.
