Hyundai Creta is the name, the game: The latest facelift has grown demand further, and so much so that Creta is the top-ranked Hyundai in India.
Creta: On Top of the Order Book
Launched the new Creta in January 2024. Growth has been nothing short of spectacular, registering 12.5% year-on-year. On average, it sells over 15,000 units every month. April 2024 saw some 15,447 Cretas find new homes across India.
But the real story lies in the overall order book that stands at 70,000 units today. Here's where the Creta really shines: It commands over 50% of all pending orders! Yes, a whopping 35,000 customers have their hearts set on the Creta. It is, undoubtedly, the single most popular Hyundai in India.
Creta: The Growth Engine for Hyundai
"The Creta's success is truly phenomenal," says Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India. He also added that the year-on-year growth adds to the previous year's increase, showcasing the incredible demand this car generates. Not just that, he went on to highlight that it's no longer just a Hyundai Creta craze; SUVs are currently the most loved cars.
SUVs Rule the Road: Creta Leads the Pack
Hyundai is not facing a Creta craze alone; SUVs in general are leading the sales race. In April 2024, for instance, almost 67% of their total sales (about 35,140 units) came from SUVs. The Creta led the pack with 15,447 units, followed closely by the Venue (9,122 units) and the Alcazar (7,756 units). Interestingly, Hyundai sees a similar trend across both urban and suburban markets.
On Track Deliveries: Streamlined Supply Chain
With a healthy order book, Hyundai promises its customers swift delivery of the orders. They keep around 22 days of inventory, which is much lower than the industry average of six weeks. Added to that is the improved supply chain situation, especially in the area of the semiconductor chip supply shortage, which enables them to fill pending bookings smartly.
In the Look: Two New Launches in the Offing
Hyundai does not seem to rest on its laurels. They have another two exciting new product launches in the offer for India. Coming later this year, is a significantly updated Alcazar SUV. After that, early next year, the much-awaited Creta EV, Hyundai's first mass-market electric SUV, will make their mark on the Indian market.
