The disruptor in electric scooters, Ola Electric, has moved one step ahead toward diversifying its electric vehicle portfolio. Bhavish Aggarwal, the CEO of the company, just broke the surprise by putting out a teaser image that hinted at the upcoming Ola electric motorcycle.
A Battery-Centric Design
It gives a view of one of the electric motorbikes' most vital constituents: a battery pack. The tubular frame houses the battery, which appears to form part of the makeup of this motorcycle. This mirrors other electric motorcycles, like the Ultraviolette F77 and Matter Aera, in which the battery pack also becomes part of their chassis.
Key Design Elements Revealed
Though the real picture remains elusive, the teaser image does give some juicy details. For instance, it shows a front sprocket and chain final drive that indicate a traditional motorcycle drivetrain; most electric scooters come with a hub motor. Also in view are footpegs and a glimpse of seat, further reinforcing a more conventional riding position, while scooters are known for their relaxed ergonomics.
Building Off of Electric Scooter Success
Ola Electric has emerged as one of the leaders in the electric scooter segment with its S1 and S1 Pro. The company did it at the help of its aggressive pricing and feature basket, combined with strong customer experience. Following on the lines of a similar strategy, this electric motorcycle is going to pitch some good value for money for prospective buyers.

Anticipation Builds
An electric vehicle community responded quickly to the teaser image. Though Ola hasn't confirmed any formal information about the launch date for the motorcycle, going by the history of its major announcements on the date of August 15th, we might actually get to see the official unveiling of the electric motorcycle on India's Independence Day.
Since Ola will continue to increase its electric portfolio, it will for sure grab the electric motorcycle segment just like it did for the electric scooters. But with an announced launch of an electric motorcycle, Ola will cement its place as one of the most influential electric vehicle companies in India.
Stay tuned as Ola Electric unravels more about this most-awaited electric motorcycle.
