Heritage Customs Unveils Convertible Version of Land Rover Defender

Heritage Customs, a Dutch coachbuilding company, has started producing a special convertible version of the Land Rover Defender, named the Valiance Defender. This unique SUV will be extremely exclusive, with only five units planned for production.

This convertible is based on the latest Defender 90 model and has undergone significant modifications. The Valiance Convertible stands out with its Sunbeam Yellow paint and contrasting black features like the roll cage, front bonnet plates, and side air vents. It also boasts a handcrafted, electronically controlled fabric top.

Inside, the vehicle is just as distinctive, featuring black quilted upholstery, aluminum paneling, and a special sixth seat located in the front row's center. The interior is further enhanced with yellow stitching that complements the exterior color.

The cost for these customizations alone is around GBP 58,000 (over Rs 59 lakh), as reported by Autocar UK, a sister publication. This price doesn't include any changes to the engine, which remains as originally specified by the customer.

Niels van Roij, co-owner of the company, expressed that this convertible reflects the charm and history of the Defender 90, particularly its previous generation's soft-top version.

Van Roij is no stranger to creating unique vehicles. He has previously designed a Rolls-Royce Wraith-based shooting brake and a Tesla Model S with an estate body.

Heritage Customs also hinted at another upcoming convertible project, described as the "next iteration of the Heritage Customs Valiance Convertible", which is expected to be unveiled in the coming months.
