Car is an asset in which we invest a considerable amount and want to keep it in good condition for a long time. Few people aware of a car's anatomy can take care of it better, but not everyone knows much about maintaining a car. Proper maintenance is necessary for the smooth and efficient functioning of a car.

7 Tips to maintain your car

Take a look at the following points to save money you might spend on repairs.

  • Change the oil

We all know car oil affects our budget, and oil issues are some of the costliest maintenance problems to fix. Oil causes some damage, so to prevent the damage, it is advised to change it every 5000 miles or follow the car manufacturer's instructions.

  • Clean the battery

A white or bluish powder called corrosion can form on the battery's terminals, leading to cracks or harm. Keeping the battery clean is of utmost importance. It is advised to test the car's battery twice a year and look for any corrosion.

  • Check spare tyre

It is mandatory to keep the spare tyre inflated just like other tyres under the car because you don't want to discover a flat spare tyre when you are in need. You surely don't want to call a tow truck that can charge you money, and save money on a tow truck, invest in an air pump to inflate the spare tyre.

  • Replace air filter

Air filters prevent pollutants from entering through the vents. If filters are used long past their life, it leads to significant air conditioning system problems. Replacing the AC unit will cost you a considerable amount. Change air filters every 12 months or 12000 miles.

  • Replace the brake pads

Hearing a squeaking sound while pressing the brakes indicates brake pads need to be changed. Check the brake fluid every time you change the oil to ensure it's not dark in colour. If it is dark in colour than you, it should be replaced.

  • Rotate tyres

Rotating the tyres often extends their life. It is because all four tyres of the car do not experience the same wear and tear. Wear and tear of front and back tyres depends on the car, roads, and speed. Get the tyres rotated every 3000 to 5000 miles and extend their life.

  • Check Coolant

If the coolant is not changed frequently, there is a risk of corrosion and severe damage inside the car. Unchanged coolant harms the air conditioner, heater, radiator, and water pump. It is advised to check the coolant twice a year- before the beginning of warm and cold weather.

Final Thoughts

With these simple tips, you will spend less on serious fixes if you are proactive in keeping the car in good shape.
