Lexus recently unveiled the new RX hybrid SUV in India, with costs ranging from Rs 95.80 lakh for the RX350h to Rs 1.18 crore for the higher-performance RX500h F-Sport+ model (both prices are ex-showroom, India).
Powertrains of Lexus RX
The 2019 Lexus RX comes with two powertrains options. The first is the RX350h Luxury, which is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine coupled to a CVT and produces 250hp and 242Nm when combined with the electric motor. It comes standard with an all-wheel drive system capable of 0-100kph acceleration in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 200kph.
The RX500h F-Sport+ is powered by a 2.4-liter turbo-petrol engine linked to a 6-speed automated gearbox. It produces 371hp and 460Nm of torque when combined with the e-motor. The RX500h has a claimed 0-100kph time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 210kph with all-wheel drive as standard.
Lexus RX: external design
The new RX incorporates Lexus' Alluring X Verve design language and resembles the new RZ electric SUV's spindle body look. The F-Sport body package adds some cosmetic modifications to the RX500h over the base model. Outside, the latter has chrome highlights, whereas the F-Sport has piano black accents.
The RX is 4,890mm long, 1,920mm wide, and 1,650mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,850mm. The new RX is the same length and height as the previous version, but it is 25mm wider and has a 60mm larger wheelbase.
Lexus RX: Internal Features
Lexus has adopted its Tazuna, Japanese for rein, idea for the fifth-generation RX, which it describes as "human-centric" with the goal of connecting the driver to the road for improved attention.
The RX comes standard with a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay (wired Android Auto), a wireless charger, and a panoramic sunroof. Lexus offers three inside colour options: dark sepia, black and solis white, as well as medium bamboo brown & sumi woodgrain.
Lexus RX: Competitors
The fifth-gen Lexus RX competes with the Mercedes-Benz GLE. The BMW X5, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Range Rover Velar, Jaguar F-Pace, Audi Q7 are the RX's main rivals.
