Tata Motors will launch a significantly revamped SUV line-up in the Indian market. The company will launch up to six new and improved items during the second half of the current financial year.
During a post-Q1 earnings call, PB Balaji, Group CFO at Tata Motors, excitingly announced that the launch cycle is now in motion, and the company is all set to go full throttle with a series of exciting new releases. We now have more tools to develop. We are extremely confident as we prepare to begin batting right away.
Tata Motors ready to launch 6 Products
Kicking off the proceedings will be the highly anticipated Punch CNG, which had its first preview earlier this year at Auto Expo 2023. The Hyundai Exter CNG will directly compete with the CNG-powered Punch, which is anticipated to go on sale in the first week of August. The Tata Motors' revolutionary twin-CNG cylinder setup, which frees up more cargo space than standard CNG vehicles, will be available with the CNG powertrain option on practically all variants of the Punch.
A mid-lifecycle update is also planned for the well-known Harrier and Safari SUVs, and production of the updated models could begin as early as September 2023. Both SUVs will have revised front and rear ends, new alloy wheels, and a few other exterior enhancements. In the meanwhile, the inside will also receive some cosmetic improvements, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and maybe a fully digital instrument cluster. In order to better compete with their rivals, the SUVs will get minor visual improvements and tweaks to the gear lever design.
Tata Motors' renowned SUV, the Nexon, is set to undergo a remarkable transformation, joining the ranks of the refreshed Harrier and Safari models. Drawing inspiration from the cutting-edge Curvv SUV concept showcased at the Auto Expo, the Nexon will flaunt captivating design changes. Inside the vehicle, drivers can look forward to a more luxurious experience with upgraded features such as a state-of-the-art infotainment system, premium switchgear, and an enhanced steering wheel. Simultaneously, Tata Motors plans to reveal facelifts for the petrol, diesel, and electric variants of the Nexon, promising an exciting lineup of improvements. Our sources claim that the EV might get a somewhat different front end to differentiate it from its ICE-powered predecessor.
Alongside the mentioned model updates, Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce the Punch EV. While the electric variant will share most of its body panels with the conventional Punch model, it is expected to feature distinctive alloy wheels and other cosmetic enhancements. Inside, the Punch EV will adopt switchgear similar to the Nexon's makeover and might even boast advanced features like a 360-degree camera. Powered by Tata Motors' cutting-edge Ziptron powertrain, the electric vehicle is set to utilize a liquid-cooled battery and a front-wheel-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor, promising an exceptional driving experience. The battery and electric motor's precise characteristics are yet unknown.
