Tata Motors has officially announced that the Curvv will be equipped with both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric powertrains. However, new concept sketches suggest that the forthcoming midsize SUV may also incorporate a compressed natural gas (CNG) option.
Tata Motors is expected to incorporate its new twin-cylinder technology for CNG tanks in the Curvv, allowing for more spacious boot storage. This innovative technology, for which Tata Motors has filed a patent, was initially introduced in the Altroz CNG and will be implemented in the Tiago and Tigor CNG models. The use of split CNG tanks has already been confirmed for the Punch CNG, as evidenced by its presence at the 2023 Auto Expo. Moreover, there is a strong possibility that the upcoming Nexon facelift will come with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Considering that the Nexon and Curvv share many technical components, it is likely that both vehicles will feature the twin-cylinder setup.
The upcoming Curvv EV is anticipated to achieve an impressive 400-500km range, accompanied by a dual motor configuration that provides all-wheel drive capabilities. The traditional variant of the Curvv will come outfitted with a powerful 1.2-liter direct-injection turbo-petrol engine, capable of generating an impressive output of 125hp and 225Nm of torque. Customers will have the option to choose between manual and automatic transmissions for the ICE version.
Expected features of Tata Curvv
Based on the preliminary designs, the Curvv is expected to incorporate advanced features such as a 360-degree camera, auto park assist, and dual-zone climate control. To access these features, the dual-zone climate control can be adjusted using two convenient toggles, while the camera and park assist functions can be effortlessly controlled through dedicated buttons positioned on the top-right corner of the interface. These intuitive controls provide ease of use and enhance the overall driving experience in the Curvv.
Expected launch of Tata Curvv
The eagerly anticipated launch of the Curvv is set to happen in 2024, with both the EV and ICE versions making their debut. However, the electric variant of the Curvv is anticipated to take the spotlight and make its first appearance before the ICE version hits the market
