Tubeless wheels

The Himalayan 450 is now available as an optional tubeless spoke wheel, becoming the first Royal Enfield model in India to do so. This means the older models like the Himalayan 411 will not be compatible with the retrofitted wheels. And at a price of only ₹11,000, it also seems quite affordable, considering that comparable upgrades from premium brands like Ducati, BMW, and Honda which cost over ₹1 lakh.

The customers who will be purchasing from dealers will have to pay ₹12,424 for these rims. This set has been beneficial so far for Himalayan riders, who have sometimes suffered from a problem obtaining a tube as well as fixing the punctures.

Peace of mind for long rides and off-road adventures

One of the advantages of tubeless rims is that they are beneficial to adventure and off-road riders. With traditional tube tyres, fixing a puncture may be very stressful as it requires taking out the whole wheel assembly which is both time-consuming and very inconvenient. On the other hand, repairing a puncture in tubeless wheels is easy and stress-free using a puncture repair kit without removal of the wheel. Long-distance travel is thus made more enjoyable.

Availability and compatibility

Tubeless spoke rims come as an optional upgrade for Indians, while internationally, models like the Kamet White have them in stock. For now, Royal Enfield has restricted this to the Himalayan 450 and offers it as an upgrade through the MIY platform or an add-on purchase at showrooms from October 3. Other than this upgrade, there is no change in the Himalayan 450. So, apart from having this new technology, there are no updates, since it stays in the same breed with an engine size of 452 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooling, holding 40 hp and 40 Nm of torque, powered by the 6-speed gearbox, slip and assist clutch.
