Skoda Auto Switching to Entirely Green Energy at Aurangabad Plant

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited is the German automaker Volkswagen Group's solely owned Indian affiliate.

With the switch of the Volkswagen Group's Aurangabad factory to 100 percent "green" energy, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has made a substantial advancement toward the Group's goTOzero ambition. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution awarded the facility its Green Energy Certificate (MSEDCL).

In order to meet 40% of its yearly energy needs, SAVWIPL's Aurangabad Plant commissioned a 980 kWp rooftop solar power facility earlier in 2018. As a result, the plant was better able to use "green" energy.

The SAVWIPL Aurangabad Plant has become the first automotive facility in Aurangabad to receive MSEDCL certification as a Green Energy Plant by substituting renewable energy from MSEDCL for the external energy source.

By switching to "green" energy, the Aurangabad facility will reduce its CO2 emissions by almost 48% annually, according to Skoda Auto Volkswagen India.
