Royal Enfield enthusiasts, rejoice! The legendary motorcycle manufacturer has filed a trademark for the "Classic 650 Twin," indicating the imminent arrival of a motorcycle that blends the timeless look of the Classic 350 with the power of a 648cc twin-cylinder engine. This highly anticipated bike may well be the most successful model yet for Royal Enfield.

Classic Looks, Modern Muscle

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin stays true to the brand's heritage by sharing a similar design with its smaller cousin, the Classic 350. However, the addition of a second exhaust pipe on the left side serves as a subtle yet distinct visual difference between the two models. This design approach is likely to appeal to riders who appreciate the classic Royal Enfield aesthetic but crave more power for highway cruising.

Shared DNA, Proven Performance

Under the hood, or rather under the fuel tank, lies the same 648cc parallel-twin engine that has been used in other Royal Enfield 650cc models. This reliable engine churns out a healthy 47hp and 52 Nm of torque, a significant performance hike compared to the single-cylinder Classic 350. It means a much more exciting ride, especially when taking longer journeys.

Modern Touches and Practical Considerations

Royal Enfield seems to be embracing a new design philosophy with its recent models, and the Classic 650 Twin is no exception. It is likely to sport an LED headlight—a first for the Classic series but seen on the recently launched Super Meteor 650. While the dual exhaust pipes are a visual delight, their protrusion may pose an issue while negotiating tight city traffic.

Launch Timeline and Expected Price

Earlier reports claimed that the Classic 650 Twin is among five motorcycles that Royal Enfield intends to launch this financial year. Now that the trademark has been filed, a launch seems imminent. The motorcycle is likely to be priced between the Interceptor 650 and the Super Meteor 650—estimates suggest that it will cost between Rs 3.30 lakh and Rs 3.70 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin will certainly change the way the brand works. It deals with an increased number of riders who want a modern bike in a classic look, possessing power and performance in it. With the launch likely to take place over the next few months, Royal Enfield aficionados should start getting their garages ready for the new addition to the iconic motorcycle family.
