PSA Group to launch Citroen cars in India

PSA Group has announced that it will re-enter the Indian market with the Citroen brand. The first Citroen car is expected to be launched by the end of 2021. The introduction of the French brand in India is part of PSA Group’s ambitious plan to venture into the new markets.

The first vehicle to be launched in India is likely to be the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV which was recently spotted on Indian roads. But PSA Group has not revealed any information regarding the Citroen cars to be launched in India. Citroen, a French automaker is known for its high quality and funky design cars.

In 2017, PSA Group showed its intent to enter the Indian market and also announced a joint venture with CK Birla Group. The French company has also commenced the manufacturing of engines and transmissions at its Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu. An official launch of engines and transmissions will take place before the launch of the first Citroen car.

Citroen has been producing cars since 1919 and it is one of the popular brands in the European market. But the French automaker will face a new challenge in India as it is a price sensitive market. It will be interesting to see the product lineup of Citroen in India and the pricing of the products.
