MRF Tyres secures the European Rally Championship title

With an impressive record of two victories and two podium finishes across six rounds, the Indian team has clinched the 2023 ERC championship with two rounds still remaining.

The MRF squad successfully defended its championship in 2023 after becoming the first Indian manufacturer.

The Indian team has had a strong season, with back-to-back victories at the gravel-based Rally Poland and Rally Liepaja by Martins Sesks and co-driver Renars Francis. Sesks is still the only driver in this season to have won two rallies.

Efren Llarena, the team's current drivers' champion, and co-driver Sara Fernandez placed third at the asphalt Rally Islas Canarias, while last month, Simone Campedelli and Tania Canton won a stage at the all-tarmac Rally di Roma Capitale.

With two victories and two podium finishes after six races, the team is therefore in a commanding position going into this week's Czech Rally.

While the teams' championship has been secured, the battle for the drivers' championship remains undecided. Sesks, the MRF driver, currently holds the second position overall, trailing leader Hayden Paddon by 55 points. "We entered this year fully aware of the challenges ahead. The FIA European Rally Championship demands that every outcome is earned, given the elevated caliber of both teams and drivers. Representing MRF Tyres in this championship has been an honor, and achieving victory on home turf in Latvia and in Poland, placing me atop the podium, fills me with immense pride," shared Sesks.

The MRF Tyres Dealer Team, MRF's second team, is third in the rankings as well after winning stages with Andrea Mabellini and Virginia Lenzi and placing third with Mads Ostberg and Patrik Barth.
