Mercedes-Benz has begun the year 2024 by introducing the updated version of its GLS model. The facelifted GLS is available in two variants: the GLS 450 priced at Rs 1.32 crore and the GLS 450d priced at Rs 1.37 crore. The GLS, featuring three rows of seating, holds the top position in Mercedes' SUV lineup. This SUV made its first appearance worldwide in April of the previous year. The facelift brings some improvements to the GLS, offering customers an enhanced and updated driving experience.

One notable change in the updated GLS, compared to its predecessor, is the redesigned grille. The facelift features four horizontal chrome strips, a new daytime running lamp (DRL) signature, and a fresh block pattern on the rear tail-lights. Additionally, the GLS facelift offers 21-inch alloy wheels and comes in five different colors: Obsidian Black, High-tech Silver, Sodalite Blue, Selenite Grey, and Polar White. The enhancement in design and customization aim to provide a more appealing and personalized experience for potential buyers.
Interior and Features of Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift
The updated GLS model provides customers with three interior upholstery options: black, beige, and brown, all crafted in faux leather. The facelift includes a fresh steering wheel with haptic feedback buttons and features the latest MBUX system, enhancing usability and introducing new off-road screens. Measuring at 5.2 meters in length and 1.96 meters in width, the GLS stands out as a spacious vehicle, and its new 360-degree camera proves beneficial when navigating through narrow spaces. This luxury SUV is equipped with adjustable air suspension and comes with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) functions, adding to the overall comfort and safety features of the vehicle.
The GLS, being a luxury vehicle, comes packed with fancy features. You get seats that can be heated or cooled, a convenient wireless charging option, and there's even a special 'Rear Seat Comfort' package that comes standard. This package adds extra comfort for the backseat passengers with head restraints, controls to adjust the front seats for more space, electric sunblinds, two 11.6-inch entertainment screens, and an extra tablet to control these cool features. It's all about making the ride extra comfy and enjoyable, especially for those in the back!
Engine and Powertrain of Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift
The new Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift comes with two engine options. First, there's a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder petrol engine that gives you 381 horsepower and 500Nm of torque. The second option is a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine with 367 horsepower and a whopping 700Nm of torque. Both cars have a mild-hybrid system, and the integrated starter generator (ISG) in the hybrid system provides an extra kick of 20 horsepower and 200Nm of torque. The GLS uses a 9-speed automatic gearbox to send power to all four wheels, and it can even wade through water up to 500mm deep. It's all about giving you power, efficiency, and capability in one luxurious package
Rivals of Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift
The updated Mercedes-Benz GLS competes with other big luxury SUVs that can carry seven people. Some of its rivals include the BMW X7, which costs around Rs 1.27 crore, the Volvo XC90 priced at Rs 98.85 lakh, and the Land Rover Discovery, which is around Rs 95.65 lakh.
