Salva Marjan, a 25-year-old motorsport enthusiast from Perambra, has every reason to believe that she stands in line to become the first woman from Kerala to join the prestigious Formula 1 Academy.
A Dream Which Started in Rural Kerala
Born on 24 July 1999 in Kozhikode, Kerala, Salva grew up with all support coming her way in an ordinary, yet confident family that had to face many challenges. Besides, financial incapability, societal pressures, and inability to reach any goal set were presumed, yet at no point did her parents tell her that a girl should not dream higher. "My parents never set any limits for me," she said. And this endless encouragement on the part of her parents helped Salva pursue her dreams, although the journey was not a cakewalk.
Battling the Odds in a Male-Dominated Sport
Motorsports have been termed one of those fields where, in general, sportspersons, especially women, face a lot of physical and mental demands. Salva has always spoken about how racing drains her body-from the extreme temperatures inside the car to the racing pressures. "Our body types and energy levels are different, which affects our endurance capacity," she says. Salva has faced many setbacks, crashes, and strong competitions.

Climbing the Ranks in Motorsports
She has impressed every one of them with her incredible performance: 119 completed laps out of 150. The goal of Salva Marjan remains crystal clear: to represent India in Formula 1 and inspire a whole new generation of women racers.
Salva's story is the most powerful reminder that at any instant in our lives, if passion, perseverance, and support come together, dreams turn into reality. It is truly an inspiring story to every young woman who wishes to be a professional car racer and, in fact, to anyone facing hindrances while accomplishing their dream. As Salva remains irreversibly committed to her effort in breaking barriers, she opens a window of opportunity for the succeeding generations of women who, by following her footsteps in motorsport events, come to realize that no dream can be so big that it cannot be achieved.
