For the 2019 Formula E season, Mahindra Race debuted its M9Electro racing vehicle. The stunning red and copper livery, created by Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE), identifies the electric sports car as the result of a partnership between MADE and the Mahindra Racing UK team. Mahindra Racing is getting ready for the ninth Formula E World Championship.
Enhanced Appearance
The new Gen3 race car is heavily influenced by the Born Electric prototypes from Mahindra, which were unveiled earlier this year. This is demonstrated by the usage of classic red and copper. A variety of red and white liveries have been applied to the race car's earlier incarnations.
The newly released Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV also featured similar copper finishes. The M9Electro's front portion is primarily seen wearing a copper tint, while the car's rear end is painted red and blue. An exposed carbon fiber finish in the car's lower half complements the livery.
Oliver Rowland, a British racing driver and Formula E race winner, and Lucas Di Grassi, the 2016–17 Formula E Champion, will drive the #8 and #11 Gen3 M9Electro race cars from Mahindra Racing this year. Jehan Daruvala, a Formula 2 race winner from India, has joined the team as a test and reserve driver in the meanwhile.
The start of the new campaign will also signal Frederic Bertrand's appointment as Mahindra Racing's new CEO. Bertrand made the following statement about the forthcoming campaign: "I am delighted with this new beginning. With the new design on the cars, the squad is off to a fresh start. I have big hopes for the team's future because we have some wonderful team members and two excellent drivers in Oliver and Lucas."
Formula E 2023
Valencia has hosted the official pre-season testing from December 13–16, 2022. On January 14, 2023, the Mexico City E-Prix will launch Season 9 of the Formula E championship, which will afterwards take place at three additional locations. With a total of 16 rounds, this season's Formula E calendar is the longest one yet.
With the inaugural Hyderabad E-Prix set for February 11, Mahindra Racing will also be able to compete for the first time on its home ground. The upcoming season of the Formula E championship will feature eleven teams in total. Season 9 will also see the introduction of the Gen3 electric race vehicles, which produce 350kW (476 hp), about 100kW more power than the Gen2 series, and have a top speed of 320 kmph
