In 2016, Maini began his single-seater career by competing in the Italian F4 Championship. Following that, he advanced through several racing series, including Formula Renault Eurocup, British Formula 3, and FIA F3. He is currently competing in his first FIA F2 season for Campos Racing. Notably, he is mentored by none other than two-time Formula One world winner Mika Hakkinen.

At the age of 23, Maini presently holds the 11th position in the drivers' standings. He achieved his inaugural F2 podium during the Sprint Race at the Australian GP. Expressing his enthusiasm, Maini stated, "I am incredibly thrilled to become a part of the Alpine Academy. Being associated with the BWT Alpine F1 Team is a dream realized, where I can acquire knowledge and progress, with the ultimate aspiration of one day making the transition to Formula 1."

Maini joins fellow F2 competitors Jack Doohan, who currently serves as a reserve driver for the Alpine F1 team, and Victor Martins within the Alpine Academy. Notably, the program has produced notable Formula 1 drivers such as Oscar Piastri at McLaren and Zhou Guanyu at Alfa Romeo.

Julian Rouse, the Interim Sporting Director of the BWT Alpine F1 Team, expressed their delight at welcoming Kush into the Alpine Academy, recognizing his young talent and potential as a valuable addition to their driver development initiative.
