Jehan Daruwala wrapped up Formula 2 with Double Podium Finish

Jehan Daruvala of India earned his 16th Formula 2 podium with a third-place result in the Sprint race at the championship's Saudi Arabian round in Jeddah.

Daruvala started fifth and was battling eventual winner Ayumu Iwasa for the win until he slid to third three laps before the finish. However, he crossed the line just over a second behind Iwasa and less than a half-second behind runner-up Victor Martins to claim his second consecutive podium.

Daruvala finishes third in the F2 Saudi Arabia feature race

Daruvala has always performed well in Saudi Arabia; the 24-year-old stormed through the field to finish third last year. He kept up his great form by finishing third in the sprint race.

Following Theo Pourchaire's punishment for instigating an accident in the sprint race, he started the main feature race from fourth on the grid after qualifying fifth. Daruvala and MP Motorsport opted for a pitstop strategy early in the race. It was all about managing pace and tyre wear from then on.

Frederik Vesti crossed the finish line first, becoming the fourth F2 race winner of the season, ahead of Jack Doohan. Daruvala finished third, completing the podium for the second time.

Kush Maini finished outside the points in 12th place in the feature race.

 Daruvala's recent series of podium results provide him with a much-needed confidence boost after a poor season opener in Bahrain. "This was a great strong weekend for us and some much-needed results after Bahrain's disappointment," he said.

"We were consistent and performed well. We can take a lot of confidence from the Saudi round, and I'm excited about the forthcoming races."

With 24 points, he is presently fifth in the championship, just nine points behind leader Ralph Boschung. The next race on the calendar is the Australian GP, which will be placed between March 31 and April 2, with F2 making its debut at Melbourne's Albert Park.
