Leadership Change: Hubert Trunkenpolz Takes the Helm at MV Agusta
Pierer Mobility AG, the parent company of motorcycle brands KTM and Husqvarna, has acquired a controlling stake in famed Italian bike maker MV Agusta. The new place enhances Pierer Mobility’s standing in the high-end motor bike market and signifies a significant change for MV Agusta.
Early Takeover Ensures Control
In November 2022, Pierer Mobility AG purchased 25.1% of the stake of MV Agusta. As part of this deal, KTM took over the supply chain and purchase functions for MV Motorcycles in October 2023 and started selling MV Agusta motorcycles through its worldwide network.
Initially, Pierer Mobility had an option to buy another 25% stake in MV Agusta on grounds that the Italian company performs well financially by end of year 2025. Nevertheless, they have exercised this option prematurely thereby acquiring a controlling ownership interest of 50.1% in MV Agusta.
Hubert Trunkenpolz Takes Up Position at MV Agusta
Following its acquisition by KTM boss Stefan Pierer, Hubert Trunkenpolz, nephew of one of KTM’s co-founders Johann Trunkenpolz (the “T” in KTM) has been appointed as CEO and Chairman of the Board for MV Agusta. Timur Sardarov will now become Vice-Chairman/Brand Ambassador/Consultant after serving as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of MVA board.
Boosting Production at Varese Facility
The new possession structure additionally brings plans for improved manufacturing at MV Agusta's manufacturing facility in Varese, Italy. In the medium term, the aim is to raise annual production capacity to over 10,000 motorcycles.
