Geoffrey Emmanuel Becomes First Indian to Compete in FIM JuniorGP

Geoffrey Emmanuel will make his FIM JuniorGP World Championship debut in Portugal. The 18-year-old will be the country's first rider in the series.

The FIM JuniorGP World Championship is very significant on the way to MotoGP. It follows Moto3 rules and serves as a feeder class for the Moto3 World Championship.

The competition has aided the development of some of the most well-known MotoGP riders, including Marc Marquez, Fabio Quartararo, and Francesco Bagnaia. In fact, according to MotoGP organiser Dorna Sports, more than 80% of the riders in the Grand Prix paddock had passed through the series on their way to MotoGP.

Geoffrey, the son of seven-time National Champion Emmanuel Jebaraj, will compete in his first FIM JuniorGP season for Cuna De Campeones. Some notable MotoGP riders, including 2020 champion Joan Mir and current Pramac rider Jorge Martin, have graduated from the same team. The opening round of the 2023 season is set for May 5-7 at Portugal's Circuit de Estoril.

Following his participation in the Honda India Talent Cup, Geoffrey advanced to international racing, competing in the 2022 Hawkers European Talent Cup, a Honda one-make championship.  "Because of the highly competitive environment and racing on new circuits, the European Talent Cup was a steep learning curve for me." Overall, it was beneficial to my confidence.

Earlier this year, he participated in test runs on the 2018 KTM RC 250GP bike in Estoril and Valencia to prepare for his FIM JuniorGP appearance.

Johann Reeves Emmanuel, Geoffrey's younger brother, will also compete in the FIM JuniorGP European Talent Cup, which will take place on the same weekends as JuniorGP.
