Faurecia and HELLA will operate under one roof in the future
You are stuck in the middle of the highway. A truck has overturned, the traffic is moving at a snail's pace and there is no exit in sight. Instead of getting angry, you remain calm. After all you are sitting in a "Cockpit of the Future". You are handlind over control to your vehicle. It recognizes the stop-and-go phases and drives autonomously. The steering wheel disappears into the dashboard. Instantly, you have more space to get comfortable. You can take a nap or participate in a video call. On a large display you can select your favorite music or a movie. Light effects create a pleasant atmosphere.
Dreams of the future? Sooner rather than later, this vision will come true. The future HELLA majority shareholder Faurecia is working on this in its Interiors Business Group. Learn more about this area, the "Cockpit of the Future" and the challenges associated with it.
"We have the know-how to bring the Cockpit of the Future to the road"
In the Interiors Business Group alone, Faurecia employs around 36,000 people at 75 sites in 24 countries. The business group's sales amounted to approximately €4.5 billion in 2020. The main products include in particular dashboards, center consoles, door panels and modules as well as surface technologies. In addition, solutions for the "Cockpit of the Future" are being developed in five research and development centers. It stands out not least because it is interlinked, personalised and forward-looking. "Focusing on user experience represents a fundamental shift in our approach to innovation. We can no longer start from the hardware, but must focus on the user," says Jean-Paul Michel, Executive Vice President, Faurecia Interiors. "This approach has made us a leader in the industry and a respected contact for our customers. We have the know-how to bring the Cockpit of the Future to the road. "Sustainable materials, integrated entertainment electronics, a pleasant ambience supported by light and sound effects. In the long run, all of this will transform the car's interior into a kind of living room where you can get through traffic jams on the highway in a relatively pleasant manner.
Faurecia's four business groups
Over the next few weeks, Faurecia's four business groups will be presenting themselves here. These are divided into Seating (components, safety technologies and system solutions for car seats), Interiors (dashboards, center consoles, door panels and modules, and surface technologies), Clean Mobility (emission-reducing exhaust systems, battery and fuel cell technologies) and Clarion Electronics (cockpit electronics, displays and low-speed driver assistance systems)
