TVS-Built BMW CE 02 Witnessing Strong Demand in Export Markets

The Indian two-wheeler industry is seeing a rise in demand for made-in-India electric scooters, with TVS Motor Company leading the charge. In FY2025, a total of 4,45,657 scooters were exported, marking a 16% increase. Out of these, electric scooters accounted for 5,633 units, representing a 1.26% market share.

TVS dominates the EV export market, shipping 4,959 electric scooters, which makes up 88% of total exports. The majority of these exports consist of the BMW CE 02 (4,063 units), followed by TVS iQube (896 units).

BMW CE 02 Leads TVS’ EV Export Growth

TVS began exporting the BMW CE 02 in April 2024, manufacturing it at its Hosur, Tamil Nadu plant. This electric scooter has become the backbone of TVS' EV exports, contributing 82% of the company’s total EV shipments in the first three quarters of FY2025.

Meanwhile, the TVS iQube accounts for 18% of exports, with a significant portion likely headed to Nepal, where TVS distributes its electric two-wheelers through Jagdamba Motors.

TVS Strengthens Global Presence

As India’s second-largest two-wheeler exporter after Bajaj Auto, TVS has made major investments in the BMW CE 02. The platform was jointly developed by TVS and BMW Motorrad, marking their second collaboration after the 310 series of motorcycles.

TVS has also expanded its global footprint, shipping 7,77,622 two-wheelers (motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds) in the first nine months of FY2025, reflecting a 19% year-on-year growth. The company has entered key international markets like Nepal, Vietnam, France, and Italy and recently launched its products in Morocco.

With a strategic focus on global expansion and growing demand for Indian-made EVs, TVS Motor Company is set to strengthen its presence in international markets.
