What is Formula 3?

Formula 3, also known as F3, is the next step above Formula 4, or F4. F4 is the kind of racing used as a first step for young drivers who have come up through karting to enter single-seater racing. F3 will equip the driver for more competitive levels of racing, namely F2 and the revered F1. When F3 is rolled out across Indian turf, young racers will get the scope to brush their skills, work their way up the level, and do it all without ever leaving this country.

Creating an ecosystem for motorsports

Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd. wants to come up with not only one but a complete environment for motorsports in India. According to Balasubramanian, their motive is to make the sport accessible to racers and fans in similar terms. Motorsports are very expensive; launching F4 and F3 leagues here in India will also give youngsters a budget-friendly platform to display their talent. The F4 Indian Racing League has already gained much attention; hence, more so with F3 added to it.

Support from key investors

Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd. Has also been able to attract investment from investors like Akhilesh Reddy, director of Meil Advanced Technologies and Dabur chairperson Mohit Burman. They have together acquired the rights to run the F4 and F3 leagues in India, which belonged to them from Federation Internationale de L'Automobile and Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India.

Indian Motorsports: The road ahead

The expected introduction of F3 is to take Indian motorsports to new heights. Plans for holding F3 races on circuits like the Madras International Circuit, and probably street races, will help Indian motorsports to attract more attention. This is sure to bring thrills both for racers and for fans, bringing India closer to the global world of motorsports. With the introduction of F4 and F3 leagues in India, it has opened doors for the possibility of more Indian drivers to make their way to the F1.
