Mitsubishi is set to reveal its much-awaited 7-Seater SUV concept in the last week of the month. According to the update, the concept will be revealed at the Philippine Motor Show with the hope of adding some more feathers in Mitsubishi's portfolio in ASEAN markets. According to the sources, the 7-seater SUV will be based on XForce. The 7-Seater SUV aims to challenge compact SUVs, such as the Hyundai Creta, in the Indonesian, Thai, and Philippine markets.

Based on XForce platform with extra space

The teaser makes the new SUV appear to be just a stretched version of the XForce, owing quite a lot to the original design. With seven passengers carried on an extended wheelbase, it would look to take on the Hyundai Alcazar.

The cabin will most likely borrow from most of the space of the XForce to offer more practical, premium features. These will include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster besides an 8-speaker Yamaha-tuned sound system. More will include add-ons with multiple USB ports, smartphone holders, and a wireless charger.

Engine and drive modes

Under the bonnet, the SUV would be as close as its sibling XForce with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder gasoline motor that would deliver 105hp and 141Nm of torque. The mentioned motor would be mated to a CVT automatic gearbox, and it would deliver four drive modes - Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud would literally be used for different situations. However, 4WD is not on the agenda for this SUV.

Will this Mitsubishi SUV arrive in India

The company continues to sell in Southeast Asia, but it cannot be said whether it will revive in India. While being the partner of the Renault-Nissan alliance, the company has focussed to mainly operate in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand. Meanwhile, its sister brands Renault and Nissan continue to do tremendous business in India with Kiger, Triber, and Magnite and more launches lined up for 2025.

Conclusion

Mitsubishi's 7-seater SUV would look promising to the company and hopefully manage to pack in much more space and features within it, yet it wouldn't lose that soul of the XForce. It may not come to Indian shores, but it promises to end up one of the huge contenders in markets throughout Southeast Asia, snatching seats for Hyundai and Kia lobby easily.
