For a while now, Suzuki has been testing the Burgman electric scooter in India, and spy photos of the vehicle have often appeared. But, the Hamamatsu-based company has now fully unveiled the e-Burgman abroad and made the majority of its features public.
Details of Suzuki e-Burgman
In terms of how its battery pack is mounted, Suzuki's e-Burgman will deviate from past patent designs, which is the big news in this case. The production-spec e-Burgman has a swappable battery pack as opposed to the fixed battery pack that was depicted in the earlier-leaked docs. Suzuki states that the e-Burgman has a range of "44km when ridden at a steady 60kph on a flat surface," yet the capacity of the removable lithium-ion battery is still unknown. Even while this number seems relatively low, it will probably rise given that our typical speeds are far lower than this.
At the Honda Mobile Power Pack e: swapping stations, the battery packs for the e-Burgman may be changed out and recharged. In India, Honda has made some significant plans for its electric two-wheelers (and gasoline-powered ones, too), and these battery-swapping facilities will be much more common as part of those plans.
The e-Burgman is said to have a peak power of 4 kW, which is comparable to that of the TVS iQube S and the Bajaj Chetak, according to a news statement from Suzuki. Probably it will be a more practical electric vehicle than a more performance-focused one like the Ola S1 Pro or the Ather 450X, according to this statistic.
It's also important to note that the e-Burgman weighs 36 kg more than the previously released Burgman Street EX. This one of the biggest electric scooters weighs 147kg, which is 28kg more than something like the iQube S. In fact, it weighs more than every popular Indian e-scooter now available for purchase. Its seat height is 780mm, the same as the two Burgman models offered for purchase in India.
Eight e-Burgman units are now undergoing testing in Tokyo's Jonan. This "experiment" will put the e-Burgman through its paces starting in April and running through June 2023. It is unknown whether or not the Suzuki e-Burgman will be available after that time.
