Pragathi Gowda, an Indian rally star, produced incredible success in a new vehicle, the Rally Cross Car, which is not practiced in India. Nonetheless, the Bengaluru lass surprised Indian racing fans last year when she won the Continental championship for women and qualified for the World Finals.
Although Pragathi had no prior experience with these vehicles, she participated in the Chennai testing by getting behind the wheel for the very first time. Despite this, she made an early trip to Italy to train and adjust for a few days. The finals initially planned to take place in Peru, faced two postponements.
The Rally Star Cup (RSC) is a new initiative launched by the FIA, the Federation that governs Motorsports around the world, to provide rally drivers aged 17 to 26 years with a path to the World Rally Championship. Aspiring skilled drivers from many continents progress up a ladder and are offered the opportunity to fast-track their entry into the Junior WRC, with the FIA providing free instruction before picking the final champions.
Pragathi Gowda of India, who won the Asia Pacific continental selection trials at Chennai's Madras International Circuit by overcoming an Australian driver, drove her heart out and put on a tremendous performance to reach the finals. After putting up a good battle against the other three finalists, Gowda bowed out with dignity and returned stronger.
Pragathi's feat is a significant step forward in promoting motorsports in India by breaking down barriers and promoting diversity in the sport. Her success serves as a testimony that gender does not limit one's ability to achieve their goals, given their dedication, hard work, and passion.
Pragathi Gowda's outstanding performance in the FIA Rally Star competition is a remarkable source of inspiration and encouragement for all aspiring women who aim to make a name for themselves in the world of motorsports.
