After an extended summer break, the fifth round of the DTM championship started at the Nürburgring, and Red Bull AlphaTauri AF Corse showed up with confidence following Fraga's triumph last time at the Norisring.

Cassidy was excited to get back in the driver's seat of the AlphaTauri-liveried Ferrari as he had not raced in DTM for long because of his Formula E commitments.

While racing started, Fraga began from 6th, and Cassidy found himself 21st when qualifying was dropped because of the terrible climate.

Fraga then made an unimaginable beginning as he moved into the lead position before the finish of the opening lap. The Brazilian Stock Car champion wanted to extend his advantage but was cut by MirkoBortolotti; eventually, he had to retire his car because of the damage sustained.

Cassidy was lucky as he stayed away from any incidents and carved his way; ultimately, he managed to secure well-deserved championship points.

With daylight and perfect conditions on Sunday, there were high expectations; however, qualifying ended up being intense for the two drivers because of Balance of Performance changes declared by race management.

Cassidy made a perfect beginning from the nineteenth position as he moved through the field before being sent into a spin by Germany's Maro Engel and compelled to retire, while Fraga fought to the twelfth spot.

Cassidy stated: "I felt far better with the vehicle this weekend. However, I don't feel we got to show our true capacity. I will bounce back strongly at Spa.”

Fraga said: "Saturday began ideal for me. Then it turned out to be difficult to safeguard the lead. It feels genuinely terrible, as it most likely would have been a success or, without a doubt, a second place. I feel sorry for the team, as I could not avoid the incident. Now, I am looking forward to Spa.”

Fraga is now 12th in the championship standings, and Cassidy is in 20th place.
