On August 1, 2023, the fifth-generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will make its premiere all over the world, according to the automaker. The SUV will continue to go by the name Land Cruiser Prado in international regions while taking on the name Toyota Land Cruiser in North American markets.
New Land Cruiser Prado Teaser
A closer look reveals some variations; it will be closely related to the Lexus GX SUV. The new SUV has a huge Toyota badge and a rectangular grille with an "egg crate design" up front. The headlamps have an angular appearance that is reminiscent of past Land Cruiser designs, particularly the J60 generation. Everything shown in the teaser screams robust and tough, and the front and rear fenders appear to be square and thick. The tailgate is upright in the back, and the slightly projecting tail lamps have a throwback design with clear lenses.
While the general design is relatively similar to that of the Lexus GX, several body panels appear to have undergone a change. The new Land Cruiser Prado appears to have carried over the up kicked window line that was seen on the GX. Although nothing is known about the interior, we anticipate a proper three-row SUV with room for seven passengers.
The third-generation Lexus GX SUV and the new Land Cruiser Prado SUV will share a base, off-road equipment, some interior components, and a few body panels. However, the final design will incorporate Toyota’s characteristics, as seen in the teaser. There is currently no information available regarding the available powertrains.
New Land Cruiser Prado launch in India
In practically every region, including India, where the full-size LC300 has a waiting list of over two years, Toyota SUVs are currently experiencing record demand. As it did with the Vellfire MPV, which will soon go on sale here, just months after its worldwide debut, Toyota appears to be introducing new model releases in India shortly after their global debuts.
