As stated earlier, the 2022 MG Hector will undergo major upgrades on both equipment and cosmetic parts and will get launched in the festive season. And now MG Motor has released the first teaser of upgraded Hector.
Hector will come in the revamped interior. On the outer side, the updates are expected on the front and back parts.
MG Hector to Get Largest Touchscreen
In 2019, when Hector was launched, the biggest talking point was its big 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Now, the new Hector is taking it to the next level with a 14-inch screen, which is the largest among all cars in India.
The touchscreen is well integrated within the dashboard in the current model, while the upgraded Hector will have a floating touchscreen unit. The vertical AC vents have been replaced with new horizontal units. The centre console gets a new design with a new gear level. There are new touch-sensitive buttons for volume control and power buttons. The defogger function will be relegated to the touchscreen.
The touchscreen of the current model is slow to respond, therefore care is taken into account to see the usability of the larger touchscreen on the updated version of this car.
ADAD (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) Tech: MG Hector 2022
Getting an ADAD update is another major update on the MG Hector 2022. The safety features include blind spot detection, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, traffic alert, and lane departure warning.
On the exterior, the 2022 Hector will have revised front and back. On the front, the grille is expected to be larger with changes in headlamps and bumper design too. At the back, the tail lamps are made sleek with an upgraded bumper.
Mechanically, it is unchanged, with 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines and the 170hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit.
MG Hector is to be upgraded above the Current Level
The 2022 MG Hector model is positioned a little above the current model and priced at about Rs. 1.5 lakh – 2 lakh higher in comparison to the current model.
Takeaway
While MG Hector is getting the new largest touchscreen and visual tweaks to the exterior and interior design, the engine is similar to the current version. There is 1.5-litre 143 PS turbocharged petrol engine and CVT gearbox options and a 2.0-liter 170 PS diesel engine as standard.
