The Fronx, a new urban SUV from India's top automaker, will be on sale under Nexa, the company's high-end label.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which is based on the well-known Baleno hatchback and has the practicalities of a high-riding crossover but also has the appearance of a coupe with a roofline, will likely be the brand's most significant new launch this year. The Fronx is significant because it brings back a turbo-petrol engine to Maruti's lineup after a three-year absence due to the discontinuation of the Baleno RS.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx got the elegant exterior
The Fronx stands out from other SUVs in its class with its sleek and coupe-like appearance. A lot of Baleno and Grand Vitara can be observed in the Nexa design language, but Maruti Suzuki has managed to give the Fronx a unique appearance.
With split headlamps, an all-black, larger front grille, and a chrome slat, Maruti Suzuki has given the Fronx a butch appearance. The tri-claw-like LED DRLs are a very striking feature.
With its coupe-like roofline and flared square-shaped wheel arches, the Fronx presents a more dynamic side view that SUV consumers will find appealing. It has 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels as well.
The Fronx's exquisitely designed LED-connected tail lights make it stand out from the back. This perspective also reveals the Fronx's elevated stance due to its 190mm ground clearance.
Maruti Suzuki has identical features
The Fronx is pretty recognisable below, despite the distinctive design. Although the Fronx is 20mm wider, 5mm longer and 50mm taller than the Baleno, it shares the same Heartect platform and wheelbase with the later. Maruti has also adjusted the suspension setup to allow longer travel while maintaining the car's positioning.
The interior is where it is most obvious that the Fronx is based on the Baleno. The only visual distinctions between the two versions' dashboards are minor variations in colour and texture. The Fronx likewise takes the Baleno's whole equipment list; thus it will be as well-equipped, though the variant-wise split will differ because the Fronx has a second trim.
Turbo Petrol Engine
The same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder Boosterjet engine that was available with the Baleno RS has been modified to comply with the most recent emissions requirements and produces 100 horsepower. Either a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox or a 5-speed manual transmission will be included with this engine. This engine will next be found beneath the hood of the Fronx and a few further Maruti vehicles.
The 1.2-liter engine is reported to produce 21.79 kpl with the manual gearbox and 22.89 kpl with the AMT transmission, respectively. The 1.0-liter engine is claimed to return 21.5 kpl with the manual gearbox and 20.01 kpl with the automatic.
The Fronx has no direct competitors because it is the only coupe crossover in the tiny market. It will occupy a sweet spot in the compact SUV sector with an anticipated price range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
