Hey bike lovers! Mark this date—May 3rd, 2024—on your calendars, because we've just learned that the official launch date for Bajaj Auto's Pulsar NS400 has been fixed. This is expected to become the new entrant in the 400cc, power-packed two-wheeler space in India.

Leveraging Power from an Existing Engine

As per the official news, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is scheduled to launch on May 3rd, 2024, and it will do so with an unexpected power boost—but not enough for it to be called a monster. The 373cc, single-cylinder engine on duty is a proven one that powers the Dominar 400, KTM RC 390, and the 390 Adventure. This engine is renowned for its potential and can churn out anything between 40 to 43.5 horsepower, depending on the bike it is mounted on. While the horsepower rating of the NS400 hasn't been confirmed, one could conceive it being within that range. The engine will be powered through a conventional 6-speed gearbox, coupled with a slip-and-assist clutch that has become standard these days, meaning smoother gear changes will be readily available along with better control over the ride.

Well-Balanced Chassis for a Powerful Ride

The chassis of the NS400 is expected to be largely based on the strong perimeter frame used in the NS200, which is renowned for its capability of handling power in excess of the 200cc engine's 25 horsepower. It is likely to be reinforced so as to account for a larger engine, thus making the motorcycle lighter than the Dominar 400, and the reason for this is also to balance the distribution of the weight.

Design Elements: Combining New and Familiar

The design cues for the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 are still under wraps, but its appearance might tie in some visual elements from the just refreshed NS family lineup. It will get a more aggressive look with a modern touch. Features, like the front-fork arrangement of the Up-Side-Down (USD) units and the LCD dashboard that has Bluetooth compatibility, will likely be coming from the updated NS range to the NS400.

Price and Placement: Set to Change the Game

The price position of the Pulsar NS400 is set to be planned under the Dominar 400, starting at Rs. 2.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This would position the NS400 as the most affordable option among the four hundred horsepower motorcycles in India, which tends to have only the two Honda CBR1000R and the Honda CB150R. It can disorganise this market segment and bring this very powerful machine within the reach of every person.

The New Entrant Arrives

For the official launch date just around the corner, the official launch of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 promises to be a game-changer in the Indian motorcycle market. This motorcycle, coming with a powerful engine, a well-balanced chassis, a well-known design language, and perhaps even a competitive pricing tag, is likely to offer a strong threat to the 400cc segment.

Well, stay tuned, as more details about the NS400's specifications, features, and final pricing should be made known in the days to follow.
