Set to launch in late 2024, this new model has been spotted in test drives and is expected to include several upgrades over the 3-door version.

Here's what's new in the Mahindra Thar 5-door:

Larger Touchscreen Infotainment System: The car will have a 10.25-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, similar to the one in the XUV400. It will have the latest software and support for updates.

• Digital Display for the Driver: The higher models will feature a large 10.25-inch digital display for the driver, while the basic models will have analog dials with a larger information display.

• Dash Cam: High-end versions will include a dash cam with front and rear recording.

• Front Armrests: Both the driver and the front passenger will have individual armrests for extra comfort.

• Seating Arrangement: The car might offer two individual rear seats or a bench seat for three people.

• Rear Seat Features: Rear passengers will enjoy dedicated air conditioning vents and a centre armrest if they opt for the bench seat.

• Sunroof: A powered sunroof will be available in the top models.

The Thar 5-door will also be more spacious inside, thanks to a longer wheelbase. It will have more room for luggage and additional storage spaces. The interior will use higher-quality materials for a more premium feel.

In terms of performance, the 5-door Thar will share its 2.0-liter turbo-petrol and 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engines with the 3-door model, along with the gearbox options and off-road features. However, there will be some adjustments to the suspension in the 5-door model. Mahindra plans to start production by June and aims to produce about 4,000 units per month of this model, which might be named the Thar Armada.
