A Fresh Chapter for Dacia Spring EV

Dacia is preparing to introduce an extensively updated model of its Spring EV, which is an electric version of Renault’s Kwid aimed at being eco-friendly. The new Spring EV is eagerly expected following the global presence of both the Spring EV and its counterpart, the Kwid EV. However, some markets have not yet introduced the Kwid EV though the Renault K-ZEV concept showcased its electric essence during the 2020 Auto Expo. Furthermore, the updated Spring EV will continue to share its lineage with a Renault derivative, hinting at a future Kwid EV launch.

Mini-Duster in Disguise

Last year's global debut of the all-new Duster introduced us to a series of fresh and familiar design elements. The upcoming Spring EV is expected to inherit several of these features, presenting itself as a mini-Duster. From angular headlamps and a revamped grille to subtle rear design tweaks, the new Spring EV aims to enhance its SUV appeal with a teaser showcasing increased ground clearance and larger wheels and tires.

Inside the New Spring EV

The interior of the Spring EV is not left behind in this wave of updates. An all-new dashboard and steering wheel design are on the horizon, although it will share some interior components like switchgear and the infotainment screen with other Dacia-Renault products. Speculations about improved battery capacity and a more powerful EV motor are circulating, though it remains to be seen if the current Spring EV's platform will be retained or updated.

The India Connection

Last year, Renault India's Managing Director, VenkatramMamillapalle in a conversation with Autocar Professional stoked the anticipation of an entry-level EV in India. But, when it will come out is still unknown and that’s leaving a lot to think about among Indian EV enthusiasts.

The unveiling of the new Dacia Spring EV represents not only progress in electric mobility but also evidence of deepening cooperation between Dacia and Renault. The world automotive community is eagerly awaiting February 21 - the launch of Spring EV – which is expected to usher in a new wave of electric vehicles meeting contemporary drivers’ needs as well as ecological standards.
