Austrian Brand, Global Dream

The Austrian Brixton Motorcycles, that belong to the KSR Group, have a British name, but their motorcycles are made in China. Brixton became a reality in 2017 and managed to mark its presence in Europe and Asia with its retro-look motorcycles—especially in the 125cc and 250cc engine segments.

Indian Entrance: Partnership with KVMPL

Brixton regarded the Indian market as the logical destination for the foray of an international brand and selected KAW Veloce Motors (KVMPL) as their Indian partner. KVMPL was already handling the sales, services, and after-sales spare parts for companies like Benelli and Keeway in parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Made in India, Designed in Austria

For India, Brixton will launch four motorbikes this year. These motorbikes will be designed in the Austrian design center but manufactured in a factory made in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. It's still to be cleared if the production will involve complete knock-down (CKD) assembly with imported parts or fully local manufacturing.

Building for the Future: R&D and Expansion

Wisely, Brixton is investing in the Indian market besides merely bringing a few models for a shake-off. The company is developing a research and development center in India for motorbikes designed for Indian tastes and riding conditions.

Regarding the distribution, Brixton intends to work on developing a very strong dealership network across the main cities of India. They are targeting 15 dealerships by the end of 2024 and another 50 by the end of 2025.

A Glimpse into Brixton's Global Presence

As noted earlier, Brixton's international model ranges give an indication of what Indian fans can expect to see. As many as 14 different retro-styled motorcycles are on offer across the globe, from small-capacity 125cc models to more significant 1200cc models. The engines in some of Brixton's models are shared with lesser-known international brands, including Triumph and Honda. It will be interesting to see how Brixton's larger models, including the 1200cc Cromwell, will fare against similar offerings from KAW Veloce Motors' existing brands.

The arrival of Brixton Motorcycles in India mirrors an increased trend toward classic-looking motorcycles in the market. Focusing on design, local manufacturing, and future models made to fit the Indian market perfectly, Brixton Motorcycles promises to be an interesting player in the Indian motorcycle market.
