Although Sundays are meant for sleeping, this time my father and I decided to make it exciting. It was literally after years that this dynamic duo was again out on wheels. Considering road trips to be the only way to relieve our stresses we planned a small visit to the Vale of Kashmir.
Although Sundays are meant for sleeping, this time my father and I decided to make it exciting. It was literally after years that this dynamic duo was again out on wheels. Considering road trips to be the only way to relieve our stresses we planned a small visit to the Vale of Kashmir.
Perks of being a Wanderlust
Admit it or not, nothing can be as soothing as travelling with your favourite partner on empty roads. Being Wanderlust since the very beginning of my life, I have been collecting moments and storing them on my heart’s shelf. From staying out at night camps to climbing on mountain treks we have spent the best moments of our lives in each other’s company.
Well, my bond with my father was a bit different. From being my superhero to my travel buddy he excelled at everything.
On our way to the Vale
Coming back to the present, there was so much in nature to talk about. Our old Datsun Go running on empty valley roads with our favourite songs being played on loop left us mesmerized. The white morning sky along with the calming cold breeze kissing our window panes gave us a heavenly feeling. The roadside firs and spruces which weren’t much visible yet elevated the freshness of the air. Besides, the waterfalls and streams we witnessed on our way were epitomizing nature’s beauty on another level.
Every element in nature was murmuring its own stories that kept the riders engaged and hopeful. The chirping of birds at dawn was unarguably more effective than our daily alarms. Luckily it wasn’t wintering and we could escape the hauntings of snow storms and landslides.
Our goal was undoubtedly beautiful but our journey to the same was even more euphoric. Dad was an expert in driving, he treated the roads like an old friend and gifted us a smooth ride every time. Petrol and servicing were never an issue as he always kept the best care of this car’s equipment.
On our way, we got obstructed by a herd of sheep that took almost half an hour to pass. We even parked to warm ourselves with sips of hot tea. For breakfast, we had bread toast and pepper soup to add to its taste. Well, this ride wasn’t just a ride; it included wholesome gossip and light-hearted jokes. Besides, my father sharing his experiences and life advice was something that made it a lot more.
Our bond in a nutshell
Well, it was never all about positives and positivity. A lot of our arguments and views clashed but he always had an upper hand. There were points that I felt were too orthodox to believe and hence, kept my ones accordingly.
We even stopped at a few temples on our way to the Vale. There me praying for his health and he praying for my success was something that made this band unique.
Thus, making our trip the best of all there comes a popular saying which goes this way, “ One Father is more than a hundred schoolmasters”.
